Gera – Jimma Zone
Single Origin Coffee | Washed Process | Ethiopia
From the high forests of Gera in Ethiopia’s Jimma Zone comes this beautifully structured single origin coffee, grown and processed by Seid Kemal — a producer whose story begins just down the road from Ethiopia’s national coffee research centre.
Born into a coffee farming family in Sedi village, Seid spent his childhood watching researchers trial and study varieties such as 75227 and Merdacheriko — cultivars prized for both resilience and exceptional flavour. Surrounded by innovation and tradition, his path into quality-focused coffee felt almost inevitable.
In 2016, after years working alongside cherry collectors and private washing stations, Seid secured a small loan and built his own washing station on inherited family land. Today, he processes cherries from more than 40 neighbouring smallholder farmers. Through transparent relationships, careful processing, and meaningful second payments, he is committed to traceability, quality, and long-term sustainability within his community.
Cherries are carefully sorted before undergoing a traditional washed process, highlighting clarity, structure, and vibrant acidity. The result is a clean, refined expression of Ethiopian coffee — elegant, balanced, and precise.
Roasted here at Welcome Dose, this Ethiopian single origin coffee delivers a bright, sugary sweetness with layered notes of orange and ripe apricot and peach.
